A recent poll indicates that Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate for Azimio la Umoja, is still the most well-liked in the coastal area.
A survey conducted by Infotrak Research on Thursday, July 21, found that coastal dwellers supported the ODM leader by a 50 percent margin.
With 25% of respondents backing the Deputy President William Ruto, he came in second.The Deputy President has been making excursions in the area recently.The six coastal counties’ study revealed that the former prime minister was well-liked across the board.
Raila has 59 percent of the vote in Mombasa County, compared to 25 percent for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate. In Kwale County, where Ruto has the backing of Governor Salim Mvurya, Raila received 51% of the vote, while his rival received 25%. The former prime minister is also in the lead in Kilifi, with 45 percent of the vote versus Ruto’s 27 percent.
With Raila and Ruto being the two front runners in Lamu County ,each got 47 percent and 34 percent of the vote respectively. In Taita Taveta and Tana River, residents prefer Raila, who has the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta, with 58 percent and 42 percent, respectively, to Ruto’s 23 percent and 41 percent.
